4 IT FOUNDATION CERTIFICATE COURSE dESCRIPTIONS
1. Leadership
Leadership is a critical success factor for any endeavor. Leadership sets the direction and vision that give hope and energy for the success of the enterprise. Like the parable of the Blind Men and the Elephant, leadership has many facets depending on your perspective. Authentic leadership requires each individual to be self-aware, to demonstrate their character, capabilities and style, and to determine what leadership success means to them.
This course will address the elements of authentic leadership, including:

2. Managing IT Trends & Emerging Technologies
IT organizations must be able to recognize and prepare for transformations in their global business environment, industry, and technology. This course focuses on these changes and how organizations can effectively and efficiently anticipate, assess, introduce, and leverage them. Students will learn how to help their organization identify, select, and adopt new information technologies while discussing the implications of current global events that are impacting industry and IT.
3. IT Resource Management
The objective of this course is to investigate and understand the IT organizational infrastructure and governance considerations for organizations. It concentrates on developing the students’ competency in the most important issues and opportunities in creating and coordinating the key activities necessary to manage the day-to-day, tactical and operational responsibilities of the IT function of a company.
Topics include IT: Business Alignment, Management Trends, Processes, Governance, Organizational Structure, Value, Dashboards, Sourcing, Human Resource Considerations, Systems and Services
Integration, Global Matters, Change, Mergers & Acquisition, and the Role of the CIO and CTO.
4. IT Strategy
This course addresses the strategic responsibilities and roles of the CIO. It focuses on deriving an Information Technology strategy that drives or enables a firm’s opportunity for gaining and sustaining competitive advantage. Valuable information services provide demonstrable contribution to the business through application services that augment the organizations operational, tactical, and strategic objectives. The foremost metrics/analytics for identifying, assessing, and communicating these initiatives will be the focus of the course.
